Heroin worth €2m seized in Dublin

Heroin with a street value estimated at €2 million has been seized by gardaí in west Dublin.

Heroin with a street value estimated at €2 million has been seized by gardaí in west Dublin.

Gardaí confirmed last night that three men and one woman in possession of heroin were arrested at the Old Lucan Road, Palmerstown, on Tuesday night.

The arrests and seizure were a joint operation between gardaí and the Customs National Drugs team.

The four are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act at Clondalkin Garda station where they may be held for seven days.

The drugs were found in a car which arrived in Dublin port on Tuesday.

Gardaí say the seizure is a setback to traffickers in Liverpool, Manchester and Dublin.

Two of the men are British and the third man is Irish. All three are believed to be in their thirties.

A 33-year-old woman also arrested is from Spain. Searches and inquiries are ongoing in relation to the arrests and drug seizure.
