Clerical staff at Heuston rail station in Dublin are to receive disturbance money arising from the the refurbishment of the station.

About 20 staff, most of whom work in the booking office, are to receive a one-off payment of €350 each on foot of a Labour Court recommendation. Their union, SIPTU, had sought €500 for each of the staff, while Iarnród Éireann had offered €200.

Iarnród Éireann argued that the disturbance to clerical staff was minimal and in some cases, "almost non-existent". Most of the redevelopment work took place a considerable distance from the booking office, it told the court.

In recommending a payment of €350 to each claimant, the court said it was taking into account the degree of inconvenience caused to the staff concerned.
