Dessie Hughes's nine-year-old should be going for the hat-trick having had the race at his mercy last year - only for jockey Roger Loughran to mistake the winning post and hand the spoils to Hi Cloy and Andrew McNamara.

Michael Hourigan's charge, who has completed his recovery from a bruised foot, will again be in opposition after connections elected to bypass the Stan James King George VI Chase at Kempton.

Jim and Steel Band will also line up - as will Martin Brassil's promising second-season chaser Nickname, who must bounce back from a slightly disappointing show behind In Compliance last time.

Last season's Queen Mother Champion Chase third Mister McGoldrick makes the trek across the Irish Sea for Sue Smith to add some English interest in the Grade One contest.

Brassil has been pleased with Nickname since his fourth at Punchestown earlier in the month and feels his seven-year-old will take the step back in trip in his stride.

"Everything's gone to plan and I was happy with his run last time," the County Kildare handler explained. "Ruby (Walsh) said it rode like a Gold Cup race — it was a real proper race and he's as effective going over two miles as he is over a bit further.

"He hasn't raced against the English horse, Mister McGoldrick, but these races are there for horses like him so he may as well take his chance - it looks an open race."
