A major US technology company is on target to create up to 100 new jobs over the next five years in west Dublin, it emerged today.
Enterprise Minister Micheal Martin officially opened QLogic's new EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Headquarters in Blanchardstown, Dublin this morning.
Mr Martin said the investment by QLogic is another strong addition to a growing pool of storage industry companies in Ireland.
"The Dublin facility will have EMEA wide responsibility for activities from final manufacturing to sales and marketing, financial, and fulfillment functions, encompassing an extensive range of skills," he said.
QLogic Corporation, headquartered in California, is one of the leading providers of Storage Area Network infrastructure components. Their products are used in servers, workstations and other networking products by major IT companies such as Dell, Cisco, EMC, IBM, HP and Sun Micro Systems.
Initially, the new Irish operation will perform final manufacturing, customisation, packing and storage of products for rapid delivery to EMEA-based customers, before gaining responsibility for sales, marketing, logistics, invoicing and payment in the region.
HK Desai, CEO of QLogic said the company's first few months in Ireland have proved to be very successful. "We have found Blanchardstown to be the ideal location for our headquarters, giving us easy access to markets across the EMEA network," he said.
"The availability of highly skilled and trained people was influential in our decision and Dublin has the calibre of people we require to provide the best service possible to our clients."
