High Chaparral will continue his preparations for the Vodafone Derby with a run in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial Stakes at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The Aidan O`Brien-trained three-year-old was an impressive winner of the Listed Ballysax Stakes on his seasonal reappearance last month after winning the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on his final start as a juvenile.

High Chaparral, a best-priced 4-1 for the Epsom showpiece, is set to follow the same route as last year`s Blue Riband winner Galileo, who won the one mile, two furlong trial for O`Brien on his way to Epsom glory.

Sinndar, winner of the 2000 Derby before taking the Irish equivalent and the Prix de l`Arc De Triomphe, was also victorious in the Derrinstown trial.

O`Brien is responsible for 24 of the 43 entries for the Group Three race.

Mark Johnston has Sir George Turner and Fight Your Corner in the race but the latter is set to run in tomorrow`s Victor Chandler Chester Vase, while Sir George Turner is also entered for Thursday`s Philip Leverhulme Dee Stakes.

There are 33 entries for the Derrinstown Stud 1000 Guineas trial later on the same card and O`Brien again holds a strong hand.

The Ballydoyle trainer has 12 fillies engaged in the one-mile Group Three contest headed by Kournakova.

Lahinch, Maryinsky, Pietra Dura and Quarter Moon all hold entries but seem unlikely to turn out after running in yesterday`s Sagitta 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

O`Brien`s Bach, a useful performer over middle distances last year, could also be set for his seasonal bow in the Listed Amethyst Stakes on the same card.
