High Court judges appointed

Two new judges have been nominated for appointment by the President to the High Court.

Two new judges have been nominated for appointment by the President to the High Court.

They are Judge Michael White, currently a judge of the Circuit court, and Kevin Cross SC. The appointments are to fill the vacancies caused by the retirement of Mr Justice Bryan McMahon, at present chairman of the Referendum Commission, and the late Mr Justice Vivian Lavan in April and Mary this year.

Born in 1953, Judge White graduated from UCD in 1973 and qualified as a solicitor in 1975. He was appointed a judge of the Circuit Court in 1995.

Born in 1951, Mr Cross graduated from UCD in 1974. He was called to the Bar in 1975 and became a senior counsel in 1997. He is married to Circuit Court judge Alison Lindsay.
