The High Court has lifted the injunction preventing the Dublin club county championship from proceeding, paving the way for UCD to play Raheny in the outstanding semi-final this weekend.
Rival club and reigning Dublin champions, Na Fianna had successfully sought the injunction last Friday after being expelled from the competition for breaching the GAA rules on substitutions.
The dispute arises from Na Fianna's disqualification after their quarter-final victory over Raheny for fielding too many players.
Na Fianna used a sixth player as a blood replacement in addition to the five permitted substitutions. Under GAA rules, teams are limited to a maximum of 20 players and therefore the game was awarded to Raheny.
But Na Fianna believed there is a loophole in the rule book that could allow them re-enter the championship and had been fighting their case in the High Court since last week.
However, after today's ruling, counsel for Na Fianna announced the club did not intend to appeal the case.
One consequence of the legal wrangling is that Dublin will almost certainly not be forwarding a representative for the Leinster club quarter-final, much to the embarrassment of all involved.
St Vincent's will play the winners of the UCD-Raheny match in the final but are unlikely to feature in the provincial championship.
Rathnew of Wicklow are waiting to play the Dublin champions on November 17th but with time running out, and no indication from the Leinster Council that any leeway will be given, a serious question mark looms over the fixture
