There was only one colour to be seen this weekend when American popstar Pink took to the stage at Malahide Castle.

Fans didn't disappoint and duly decked themselves out in a variety of pink cowboy hats, wigs and wellies. A few hardy types even braved the mud in pink stilettos, but by the end of the night these were discarded in favour of bare (and very muddy) feet. Fortunately support acts the Carriers, Gimik and the Coronas (whose melodic tunes went down especially well) were on hand to help warm things up.

After an appropriate build-up, Pink then burst on stage and literally dazzled in a sparkling silver sequined dress. Her blond hair was styled in a rebellious quiff and it became pretty clear she wasn't planning on taking prisoners.

Singing Stupid Girl, her anthem against the Hollywood It-girl set, she proudly declared: "I don't think there's a stupid girl in this whole audience!"

But not only did Pink let everyone know she wasn't a spent force in the world of pop, she had no quibbles about speaking out politically either.

Dear Mr President, her "letter to President Bush" asking him how he can sleep at night, went down well. One fan noted "she's the only one with the guts to say it" as lyrics railed against homelessness and minimum wage hardship. There was only one way to round off the night and that was with high-voltage anthem Get This Party Started.
