A WOMAN who claimed she was left with one leg shorter than the other and unable to walk properly following a hip replacement operation has lost her High Court action against a surgeon.

Noelle McGowan, of Joyce Avenue, Foxrock, Co Dublin, had sued consultant orthopaedic surgeon Dr Kieran O’Rourke arising out of hip replacement surgery performed by Dr O’Rourke on her at Cappagh hospital on July 22nd, 2003.

Dr O’Rourke denied the claims. Mr Justice John Quirke dismissed the case.

Ms McGowan had claimed, as a result of surgery, her left hip became “vastly” displaced.
