A man accused of killing Eamon Armstrong (7) in a hit-and-run incident in Belfast has appeared in court.

A man accused of killing Eamon Armstrong (7) in a hit-and-run incident in Belfast has appeared in court.

The boy died after being struck by a stolen taxi on the Falls Road. His mother, Ms Paula Armstrong (27), from Shaws Close, and Mr Martin Dornan (24), of Clonard Place, were seriously injured.

In the dock at Belfast Magistrates' court on Thursday were Mr Steven Sweeney (25), and Mr Paul McCusker (27), both from west Belfast, but stated to have no fixed addresses. Mr Sweeney was charged with causing the boy's death by dangerous driving. He was also charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Ms Armstrong and Mr Dornan. Both were charged with hijacking the taxi. They were remanded in custody until January 28th.
