Hizbollah guerrillas wounded at least two Israeli soldiers in missile attacks on Israeli positions in the disputed Shebaa Farms border region today.
An Israeli military source said the Hizbollah had launched anti-tank missiles at two Israeli army posts in Shebaa Farms. The source confirmed two soldiers were wounded.
A Hizbollah official told reporters the attacks were carried out on the Israeli positions of Rweisat al-Alam and Al-Samaaqa in the 25 sq km area adjacent to the Lebanese border and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Witnesses said Israeli artillery responded by shelling the outskirts of the town of Kfar Shouba on the Lebanese border. They said shells had struck at least six houses in the town but that there were no immediate reports of injuries.
Hizbollah killed an Israeli soldier in a missile attack on a tank in the region in April, prompting an Israeli strike on a Syrian radar station deep in Lebanon that killed three Syrian soldiers.
The United Nations certified Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon last May after a 22-year occupation. Hizbollah has vowed to drive Israel from the Shebaa Farms, which Lebanon andSyria, say is Lebanese soil.
