Roy Hodgson has shown an interest in taking over as manager of premiership strugglers Derby County in the wake of Monday's sacking of Colin Todd.

"I am aware of the situation at Derby. I know (Derby striker Fabrizio) Ravanelli has been linked with the manager's job but has said he doesn't want to be considered," Hodgson was quoted as saying in the Daily Expresstoday.

"If Derby want to talk then I am more than willing to discuss it. They are in a very difficult position but it is not insoluble. There are enough points left for Derby to reach safety."

Derby are second from bottom of the English premier league with 19 points after managing just five wins in 22 games.
