Many attractions are open over the weekend, but Bord Failte is advising people to check with the local tourist office to confirm there have been no changes.

Most golf courses are open, if no livestock has had access to the course.

Sea angling has returned to normal. Coarse and game angling events which do not involve access over farmland are being held. Restrictions are in force where anglers must go through agricultural lands. Details of more than 200 inland angling areas and sea/shore angling are on the Department of the Marine website, www.irlgov.ie/marine

Cycling on tarred roads is permitted, but off-road cycling is discouraged.

Hill-walking is still banned but for walking the Mountaineering Council of Ireland says several options are available. For longer walks follow the Barrow Way, Grand Canal Way and Royal Canal Way. Discretion is advised.

The National Museum on Kildare Street has two free children's events. "Easter 1916: the Road to Independence tour" is for 12-year-olds and upwards, on Sunday, April 15th, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., while Art at Easter is a workshop for seven to 12-year-olds, on Saturday, April 21st, morning and afternoon. There are drop-in activities at the National Museum, Kildare Street, and at Collins Barracks. The museum is open tomorrow and on Sunday and is closed today and on Easter Monday.

Other attractions include the Wax Museum, Natural History Museum, James Joyce Museum, Hot Press Hall Of Fame, Kilmainham Gaol, Chester Beatty Library, Dublin Viking Adventure Centre, Christ Church Cathedral, National Gallery, the Book of Kells in Trinity College, Guinness Storehouse, Hugh Lane Gallery, IMMA, St Patrick's Cathedral and Dublin Castle.

Most major gardens have reopened, except those beside farmland. In Dublin the Botanic Gardens, Iveagh Gardens and the War Memorial Gardens are open, while Dublin Zoo and the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre are closed.

The AIB Club Hurling Championship finals will take place, with club finals on Monday in Croke Park.

The Leopardstown Festival is on Monday and Tuesday.

South

The Rosscarbery Oyster Festival in the west Cork town takes place tomorrow and on Sunday.

The Motorcycle Union's Youghal Trial is on Sunday.

Feile na Casca Easter Festival in Ballyferriter, Co Kerry, a community event which exhibits paintings and sculptures by local artists, will be held from April 15th to 20th.

There will be racing at Mallow Racecourse next Monday and Tuesday.

Other sites of interest which are open include: the Rock of Cashel, Co Tipperary; the Queenstown Story, Cobh; Jameson Heritage Centre/the Old Midleton Distillery, Co Cork; Cragg Cave, Co Kerry; Cork City Gaol; Blarney Castle; Charles Fort, Kinsale; and Desmond Castle (French Prison), Kinsale.

Killarney National Park remains closed.

South-East

Attractions open include: Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre; Powerscourt House and Gardens, Co Wicklow; Arklow Pottery, Co Wicklow; Kilkenny Castle; the Steam Museum, Kildare, and Castletown House, Celbridge, Co Kildare (open from Easter Sunday).

Wicklow Mountain National Park is closed.

West

The Ocean Alive Sea Life Centre is open in Connemara. Visitors can take a trip along Killary fjord with Sea Cruise Connemara, which sails four times daily. It is based 1 km from Leenane.

Other attractions include: Galway Irish Crystal Heritage Centre; Foxford Woollen Mills Visitor Centre, Co Mayo; Kylemore Abbey, Co Mayo; and Dun Aonghasa (visitor centre only) on Inish Mor, Aran Islands.

South-West

Tourism and heritage sites include King John's Castle, Co Limerick; Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, Co Clare; Aillwee Caves, Co Clare; Adare Heritage Centre, Co Limerick; Ennis Friary, Ennis, Co Clare (only from Sunday).

Midlands

Athlone Castle, Co Westmeath; Birr Castle, Co Offaly; Clonmacnoise, Co Offaly; Corlea Bog Visitor Centre, Co Longford; Trim Castle, Trim, Co Meath (open from Sunday).

North-East

The West of Ireland Amateur Golf Open, Sligo, takes place from today to Tuesday 17th.

Other open sites and attractions are: the Famine Museum, Strokestown, Co Roscommon; Donegal Parian China Visitor Centre; Cavan Crystal; Parkes Castle, Co Leitrim; Boyle Abbey, Co Roscommon; Sligo Abbey, Co Sligo; Donegal Castle, Donegal town.

Glenveagh National Park, Co Donegal, is still closed.
