The August bank holiday weather has been "average enough", according to Met Eireann, writes Marie O'Halloran. Forecaster Sarah O'Reilly said while it has not been great holiday weather, it has been fairly standard for the time of year.

Today will start off with the standard rain, which moved in from the Atlantic yesterday evening. It will clear in the southern part of the country which will have pleasant bouts of sunshine. However, the rain will continue in northern areas. Temperatures today could reach 20 degrees in the south, but only 16 degrees in northern areas.
