A 20-year-old engineering student was remanded in continuing custody when he appeared in court yesterday charged with the manslaughter of Midleton school- boy Robert Holohan, aged 11, last month.

Mr Wayne O'Donoghue, Ballyedmond Hill, Midleton, Co Cork, was making his third appearance in court after being charged with the unlawful killing of his neighbour Robert Holohan in Ballyedmond Hill on January 4th.

At yesterday's sitting of Midleton District Court, Insp Martin Dorney asked Judge Michael Pattwell to remand Mr O'Donoghue in continuing custody for a further two weeks.

Mr O'Donoghue's solicitor, Mr Frank Buttimer, said his client had no objection to a continuing remand in custody. Judge Pattwell remanded Mr O'Donoghue in custody to appear again at Midleton District Court on February 17th.
