Galway gardaí have confirmed that a burglary took place at the suburban home of a 62-year-old man whose body was discovered there early on Sunday morning.
A post-mortem examination was carried out on the body of Mr Sean Conlon on Monday afternoon, but the details have yet to be made public.
Mr Conlon was found dead on a landing of his home in Ballagh, Bushypark, where he lived alone. ... He had worked in the pub trade in the city for some years. In more recent years he had driven a taxi.
There were no obvious injuries, but a senior Garda spokesman confirmed that a burglary had taken place. "His death is being treated as suspicious, and all aspects are still being investigated."
Investigating gardaí have made a fresh appeal for information. They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who was in the Bushypark vicinity between Thursday, April 8th and Sunday, April 11th.
Meanwhile, foul play has been ruled out in the death of the young man whose charred remains were found in a wood in Clarinbridge in Galway, also on Sunday. The man's identity has yet to be established.
He is described as between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 7ins, medium build, with short dark hair.
When found, he was wearing a medium-sized white Mitre top, a black nylon Dunlop jacket, blue check boxer shorts, white Fila runners and a black Nike top with a white stripe on the sleeve and "Nike" on the front.
He was also wearing a 9ct gold necklace and a gold sleeper earring in his left ear. His age has not yet been established, but he is believed to be in his 20s.
The body was found in a wooded area near the Kilcornan Brothers of Charity Centre on Sunday evening by a man walking his dog.
Investigations are continuing into the exact circumstance of the death, and anyone with information is asked to call Mill Street Garda station at 091-538000.
Foul play was ruled out following the post-mortem. His death is believed to have occurred shortly before the body was discovered.
