Homer Wells set for Fairyhouse

His nine-year-old has developed into a top-notch staying chaser this season, winning valuable prizes on his last two starts.

He has landed the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park and the BobbyJo at Fairyhouse, and is now 10-1 co-favourite with William Hill for Monday's big race.

The trainer has three others entered but said: "I think Homer Wells will be my only one. Snowy Morning won't run in that and Livingstonebramble goes for the English National.

"Ballytrim might run but he's something like number 78 on the list and I know that at the top of the weights Juveigneur is running and Cane Brake could — I suppose the ground would decide it for him.

"But Homer Wells will run, all being well. He is essentially a soft ground horse, so I'd like to see some rain there before the end of the week."
