Rome - A honeymoon turned into a nightmare for a couple when they were abducted and beaten by Sicilian youths, police said yesterday.
Police arrested two suspects, identified as Mr Francesco Samperi and Mr Sinhue Sebastiano Coco, both 20, for assault and attempting to rape the 22-year-old bride, an Australian who lives in the US, after pushing her American husband (24) from a speeding car.
The honeymooners had met the pair in a dance club. The four left for another club in the youths' car but got suspicious when the pair became very nervous at a random police check. When they asked to be taken back to their hotel in Taormina, eastern Sicily, the two men pushed the American out of the car.
