Horizon Technology said that it expects offer documents detailing a €1

Horizon Technology said that it expects offer documents detailing a €1.18 per share cash offer from US computer distributor Avnet to be issued shortly.

Last month Horizon said it had accepted the offer which values the firm at €101 million.

In a trading update released this morning Horizon said the underlying trends outlined in its annual report published on April 15th have not changed.

"While international market conditions remain uncertain and notwithstanding the weakness of sterling, the directors remain confident of the group's prospects for the remainder of the year".

The company employs 350 people in Ireland and the UK.

Avnet's offer represented a 153 per cent premium to the €0.46 Horizon shares closed at on March 12th, the day before it disclosed the offer. This morning Horizon shares were trading unchanged at €1.123.

The main beneficiary of the takeover will be Cork entrepreneur Samir Naji whose share in Horizon stake is valued at over €38 million under the terms of the offer.
