THE Irish Energy Centre has awarded over £125,000 in grants to hospitals and hotels to install energy saving management systems.
The hospital grants were given to Merlin Park Hospital, Dympna's Hospital, Carlow, and Roscommon County Hospital.
Jurys hotels in Cork and Waterford received substantial grants under the scheme, while the Green Isle Hotel in Dublin, Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny and Kellys Hotel in Rosslare also benefited.
It is envisaged that the installations will save more than £115,851 on current energy bills and will result in a reduction of over 1,800 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere each year.
