The Connemara Gateway Hotel near Oughterard, Co Galway, has been fined for breaching hygiene regulations. The hotel was prosecuted by the Western Health Board after a member of the public made a complaint. A senior environmental health officer, Mr Maurice Mulcahy, told Oughterard District Court he had inspected the hotel on June 27th and observed a female food worker wearing filthy protective clothing.
Mr Mulcahy said he found a number of contraventions of the regulations covering food preparation areas as well.
Judge John Garavan imposed fines totalling £350 and awarded £800 costs to the health board.
