Racing: Beef or Salmon will bid to put his Cheltenham "nightmare" behind him at Aintree tomorrow. Trainer Michael Hourigan has given the 10-year-old the go-ahead to run in the Betfair Bowl Chase.
"He runs on Thursday and Paul Carberry rides him," confirmed Hourigan. "He did a nice bit of work this morning and he went very well."
Beef Or Salmon defeated subsequent Gold Cup winner War Of Attrition when landing the Lexus Chase for a third time at Leopardstown in December, but could only finish 11th in the blue riband at Cheltenham last month in what was his fourth unsuccessful run in the race.
"It was a Cheltenham nightmare and I have to agree with the people," added Hourigan. "My daughter Kay said that when he went into the parade ring he just stood, he didn't want to walk in there and his hair just curled up on him.
"I would have said animals don't know where they are, but this fellow did. He's showing no ill-effects from Cheltenham whatsoever. I'm hoping Aintree suits him more than Cheltenham."
The Co Limerick handler will have two other runners at the three-day Aintree fixture, both on Friday.
"I run Hi Cloy in the Melling Chase and Cherry Island in the Mildmay Novices' Chase,", he revealed.
