Two-thirds of first-time buyers believe now is a good time to purchase a house, but most have fears over job security, according to a new EBS First Time Buyer survey.
According to the research, 67 per cent of prospective first-time buyers believe now is a good time to purchase. Among these population sector, about three in ten are actively looking for their first home, with most of the balance (six in 10) stating that they will be actively looking to buy before the year is out.
However, the survey found three in every four first-time buyers are concerned about their job or their partners’ job security.
Fifty-three per cent of respondents said they were concerned about their own job security and 22 per cent said that they were concerned about their partner’s job security.
EBS noted there was a gender split on this issues, with 63 per cent of men surveyed saying they were concerned, versus 42 per cent of women.
