Fireworks and a hoax nail bomb have been thrown at two houses in Glengormley, north Belfast. The attacks happened on the Mossvale Road on Monday night. British army technical officers were also called to the area to defuse a pipe-bomb.

The device turned out to be a hoax.

A controlled explosion was carried out on a lorry in north Belfast at the junction of Cavehill Road and the Antrim Road yesterday morning.

In a separate incident, a 12-year-old Catholic boy was beaten in what police described as a sectarian attack in south Belfast. Three youths asked the boy his religion and then attacked him in the Rosetta road area on Monday night. The boy suffered facial bruising in the attack.
