The housing boom in Ireland and Britain has helped builder McInerney Holdings post a pre tax profit of €8.53 million for the six months to June, an increase of 17 per cent on the same period last year.
Turnover jumped to €138.5 million from €111.3 million with the group's British operations making a greater contribution top the results.
In Ireland the group completed 355 houses in the first six months of the year thanks to favourable weather and strong demand. McInerney's predicted this demand will carry through into the second half and expects to complete 900 houses this year.
In Spain 34 apartments at the Los Flamingos development were sold and it is expected that a total of 79 units will be closed by year-end, completing the first phase of the development.
The company also announced it would pay a dividend of 5 cent per share to shareholders on the register on Friday, September 19th 2003.
