The removal will take place this evening of Mr Michael Bourke (51) and his daughter, Miriam (10), who were drowned in Howth harbour on Thursday. Their bodies will be taken to St Peter and Paul's Church in Baldoyle at 5 p.m, and the funeral will be on Monday morning.
Mr Bourke and Miriam, from Parkvale, Baldoyle, died when their car went off the east pier at 12.20 p.m. Gardai said their Ford Fiesta travelled a considerable distance, reversed and then appeared to go over the edge.
A man jumped into the water and tried to free the occupants. Mr Bourke's body was recovered by a diver from the Howth lifeboat, and Miriam's body was located afterwards by Garda divers.
They were taken to St Vincent's Hospital and pronounced dead.
The car was lifted from the harbour by crane, and an Air Corps helicopter was also on the scene. Mr Bourke's body was airlifted to the hospital.
Mr Bourke was a fisherman and owned a large Howth-based fishing vessel. Locals said few cars drove down the pier, and it was a quiet part of the harbour.
Howth harbour is a functioning port, and a gate which would normally be closed, preventing cars from entering the pier, may have been open on Thursday afternoon, according to a member of Howth lifeboat service.
