Los Angeles - The Hustler magazine publisher, Larry Flynt, whose paying for information about the private lives of politicians engendered furious controversy in the US, has been hospitalised with pneumonia, his lawyer said. His lawyer, Mr Alan Isaacman, said Mr Flynt was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles after X-rays showed the pneumonia.

Flynt (55) was scheduled to stand trial last Tuesday in Cincinnati on charges of selling pornography to a 14-year-old boy.

That trial was postponed until April 5th after Mr Flynt's lawyers told the judge that he needed surgery for a urological problem. Mr Isaacman said the pneumonia appeared to be unrelated to that condition.
