Hong-Kong based Hutchison Whampoa has revealed its long-awaited pricing of third-generation mobile services in Britain.
The company, which was awarded the A licence for 3G services in the Republic earlier this year, is offering two subscription plans, priced at either £59.99 sterling (€93.83) or £99.99 per month for 12 months.
These pricing options, aimed at heavy users, exclude international calls, calls made while abroad and premium-rate calls. Handsets will be on sale at a starting price of £399 before promotional discounts.
Hutchison 3G UK will be Britain's first commercial 3G service and will deliver live video calls, digital mapping and satellite location-based services, as well as video clips of Premiership football highlights, music, games, news and finance.
As the first mobile operator to unveil the next generation of mobiles to European consumers, Hutchison's pricing is being watched by rivals mmo2 PLC, Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile.
