Boxing:The Irish Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) has left a vacancy at light-welterweight in their team to travel to next month's World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Ray Moylette, the current European Elite champion, and Ross Hickey, the current Irish Elite champion, will meet in a box-off on Friday September 2nd to decide the final position in an event which acts as a qualifier for next year’s London Olympics.

Paddy Barnes, Michael Conlon, John Joe Nevin, David Oliver Joyce, Roy Sheehan, Darren O’Neill, Joe Ward, Ken Egan and Con Sheehan are the other Irish competitors.

Olympic silver medallist and three-time European Union champion Ken Egan and 2009 European Union champion has been selected at heavyweight, having moved up a weight.

Joe Ward will represent Ireland at light-heavyweight after beating Egan in the National Elite Championships and going on to win gold at the 2011 European Elite Championships.

Meanwhile, the IABA confirmed today following a Boxing Council meeting that Michael O’Reilly, of the Portlaoise BC, will line out for Ireland at welterweight at the 2011 European Youth Championships which begin on Monday at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin.
