Following a week which saw the reinstatement of its suspended regional director and the announcement of another hepatitis C inquiry, the board of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS)last night decided to hold separate meetings with several officials.
The three are Dr Joan Power, regional director in Cork, suspended for a few days but reinstated by the board last week; Mr Martin Hynes, chief executive officer and Dr William Murphy, national medical director.
The purpose of the meeting is to "review the impact on the organisation of recent events", the board said.
Last week, the Minister for Health and Children, Mr Martin, confirmed he plans to set up an inquiry into the delay by the IBTS in informing at least 28 blood donors of positive test results for hepatitis C.
