Nashville - An ice storm coated roads and caused traffic chaos across the southern United States yesterday, as an invasion of Arctic cold combined with Gulf of Mexico moisture to create winter misery. Dozens of traffic deaths have been blamed on the sudden onset of winter.
"It's the worst possible situation you could have," meteorologist Joe Rogash of the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Centre said. "You have cold, Arctic air spreading out at ground level and above that warm, humid air coming from the Gulf of Mexico."
