Iceman, ridden by Kieren Fallon, won the opening race of the Royal Ascot meeting this afternoon, the Coventry Stakes.
The John Gosden-trained youngster, sent off the 5-1 joint-favourite, came with a storming run in the final furlong to beat Council Member, the other market leader, ridden by Frankie Dettori.
Capable Guest (33-1) was third.
He's done it well," Gosden told BBC Sport. "He was outpaced early on but Kieren's a genius at threading through a field. How he finds those gaps without checking a horse I'll never know.
"When I saw he had a clear run at the furlong pole I thought he'd win.
"They go fast here at Ascot. The ground is quick and they go quick, but it's a stiff six. It's a little uphill and it catches them out in the last part."
Iceman will now be put away for an autumn campaign.
Darryll Holland, fourth behind Capable Guest on Tony James, won the King's Stand Stakes on the Milton Bradley trained, The Tatling.
