Nineteen members of the Irish Locomotive Drivers Association, including its executive secretary, Mr Brendan Ogle, could face charges under the Public Order Act after gardai arrested them last night for occupying the board room of CIE at Heuston Station, Dublin. A file is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The occupation lasted from 4.55 p.m. until 9.20 p.m. ILDA members left the station peacefully under protest. Mr Ogle refused to give a commitment not to return. The ILDA said last night that it was prepared to work "90 per cent" of the controversial "New Deal" for train drivers under protest, but the Minister for Public Enterprise had so far ignored the offer.
