Gardai have warned the elderly and those living alone to be on the look-out for thieves passing themselves off as personnel from Dublin Corporation. The warning follows an incident on Tuesday night in which a 97-year-old woman from Malahide Road, Donnycarney, was robbed of a watch and £10 in cash.
The robbery occurred after the woman answered her door to a couple who claimed to be corporation personnel. The man was described as tall, thin, with fair hair and aged 20 to 36 years. The woman had blond hair, was aged 25 to 28 years and was wearing a denim jacket and carrying a white bag.
