The music impresario Mr Jonathan King (above) was yesterday charged with 11 sexual offences against young men in the 1970s.

Surrey Police investigating allegations of child abuse charged Mr King (55) with seven counts of buggery on boys under 16, one count of attempted buggery on a boy under 16 and three counts of indecent assault. The assault charges relate to one boy aged 17 and two boys under 16. Mr King was bailed to appear at Staines Magistrates' Court next Thursday.

He has worked as a pop promoter and television presenter for 30 years and works as a consultant to the Eurovision Song Contest as well as running the music industry magazine, the Tipsheet.
