A round-up of today's other stories in brief.
Two held after gun pointed at Dublin garda
Two men were arrested by gardaí yesterday following an early morning car chase in west Dublin in which a gun was pulled on a male member of the force, writes John Downes.
However, no shots were fired and gardaí from Lucan Garda station, later arrested the two men, aged 22 and 20 years, following a search of a house in the Clondalkin area.
Three handguns were recovered during the search.
The incident happened shortly before 7am yesterday when two male uniformed gardaí on patrol on Collinstown Road in Clondalkin spotted two men, one of whom was wearing a balaclava, sitting in a car.
The car is believed to have been stolen.
"They drove off after the gardaí went to check on them. The car was pursued on to Moorefield Green where both men ran off. Both gardaí gave chase on foot and a firearm was produced on one garda," a spokesman for the Garda press office said.
However, additional gardaí, some of whom are believed to have been armed, went to Moorefield Green and a house was searched.
This led to the arrest of two men, both of whom were being detained last night at Lucan Garda station, under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

Man dies in Mayo farm accident
A Mayo man died in a farm accident on Saturday when he was pinned by his tractor against the wall of a slatted shed.
Michael Loftus (43), a single man from Lavallyroe, Ballyhaunis, was found by a neighbour who raised the alarm at 6.15pm.
The engine of the vehicle was still running.
It is believed the tractor and transport box rolled backwards after Mr Loftus alighted from the vehicle while feeding livestock.
Following the farm accident, the Irish Farmers Association and the Health and Safety Authority have repeated their warnings about the need for all land owners to be cautious when working with machinery.
Man charged with murder in Cork
A man has been remanded in custody after he was charged at a special court sitting yesterday with the murder of a man whose body was found in a flat in Cork city over the weekend.
Keith Nagle (21), Churchfield Green, Cork, was charged with the murder of Gerard O'Mahony (22), at Parkview, Wellington Road.
Mr O'Mahony, from Mount Nebo Avenue, Gurranabraher, was found dead in his rented flat by his flatmate at about 9.30am on Saturday.
Gardaí initially treated Mr O'Mahony's death as suspicious but upgraded their investigation to a murder inquiry following the completion of a postmortem assistant state pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster on Saturday night.
Mr Nagle was brought before a special sitting of Cork District Court at 12.30pm yesterday where Det Garda Owen O'Connell gave evidence of arresting and charging Mr Nagle with the murder after cautioning him.
Because of the nature of the charge, Mr Nagle could not apply for bail at the district court.
Judge Uinsinn Mac Gruairc remanded Mr Nagle in custody to Cork Prison to appear again at Cork District Court today and he adjourned the matter until then for preparation of the book of evidence.
