Man in RTÉ harassment case remanded
A man charged with harassing Late Late Showpresenter Pat Kenny and causing criminal damage to the RTÉ reception door has had a date set for a hearing for his fitness to plead.
Paul Stokes (52), Mountpelier Parade, Monkstown, Co Dublin, has been remanded in continuing custody at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court pending the hearing.
Acquitted of attempted rape
A Wexford man (28) has been acquitted of attempting to rape a woman after she left a pub almost four years ago.
The jury at the Central Criminal Court returned not guilty verdicts of attempted rape and sexual assault.
Man in court over brother's death
A 26-year-old Clare man yesterday appeared at Ennis District Court charged in connection with the death of his 30-year-old brother last January 10th.
Patrick McDonagh, Bridge Court, Roslevan, Ennis was charged with assault causing harm to Charlie McDonagh at Roslevan.
He is also charged with producing a knife during a fight. The case was adjourned to May 4th.
Homeless man jailed for assault
A homeless man who claims he has no memory of attacking a man in a pub has been given a three-year sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Thomas Coleman (54), of the Iveagh Hostel, was convicted of assaulting the victim in the Stork Pub on March 15th, 2005.
Boy (14) detained for car offences
A 14-year-old boy responsible for car break-ins in Dublin city centre, has been detained for 18 months at the Dublin Children's Court.
The boy had accrued 37 criminal convictions between March 2006 and January 2007.
Addict jailed for having cocaine
A heroin addict has been jailed for eight years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for having cocaine valued at €141,890.
Hubert Buckley (40), Rossmore Avenue, Ballyfermot, Dublin, pleaded guilty to having possession of the drug for sale or supply on February 17th, 2006.
Teenage burglar released on bail
A teenage heroin addict with 49 criminal convictions, who ransacked two houses in 15 minutes, was yesterday released on bail to await sentence.
The 16-year-old Tallaght boy had pleaded guilty at the Dublin Children's Court to burgling the houses at Laurel Park and Monastery Walk, Clondalkin, on January 11th last.
Armed robber gets 10 years
An armed robber has been given 10 years in consecutive jail sentences at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. David Mulvey (24), of Berryfield Drive, Finglas, pleaded guilty to attempted armed robbery of the post office at Fassaugh Avenue in Cabra on January 13th, 2006, and to possession of a loaded sawn-off shotgun on April 6th, 2006, at Market Green, Balbriggan.
Derek Devoy (24), Balbutcher Drive, Ballymun, was also jailed for seven years for his role in the Balbriggan crime.
