Teenager charged with murder
A teenager is due to appear in court on Wednesday after being charged on Christmas Eve with murder.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at about 7.30am at his home in Crumlin in connection with the death of David Rooney (35) in July.
Mr Rooney, Durrow Road, Crumlin, was the victim of an alleged stabbing assault on Clonmacnoise Road in Crumlin on July 2nd. He died at St James's Hospital on July 12th.
Pedestrian killed in road crash
Gardaí at Abbeyleix, Co Laois are investigating a fatal road crash in the early hours of Christmas morning on the R433 at Middlemount, Rathdowney, Co Laois.
Kevin Bergin (18), Middlemount, Rathdowney, was killed when he was struck by a car shortly after 2am on the main Ballacolla to Rathdowney road.
Gardaí are asking anyone who may have seen a male pedestrian wearing a light coloured hoodie or a red Honda Civic near the time of the crash to contact them.
John Williams (17), Derrylustia, Drumkeeran, Co Leitrim, who was killed in a crash last Tuesday, will be buried today following a noon funeral Mass at the local St Brigid's Church.
Mr Williams died after the car in which he was travelling crashed into a parked articulated lorry at 10pm on Tuesday. A 16-year-old schoolgirl, who was also in the car, was taken to Sligo General Hospital.
Gardaí investigate suspicious death
Gardaí in Limerick are treating as suspicious the death of a man in his 60s who was found in a house in the city on Christmas Eve.
The man, whose name has not been released, was discovered in Hyde Avenue after gardaí responded to a call. He was brought to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where he was pronounced dead.
The State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, was called to carry out a postmortem last night.
Two held over road collision
The PSNI have arrested two men in connection with a road traffic collision which seriously injured a 58-year-old pedestrian.
The woman was struck by a car outside Dromore, Co Down, and police appealed for witnesses to come forward. The incident took place at the junction of the Dromore Road and the A1.
Bomb discovered near GAA club
A bomb discovered near a GAA club in Armagh could have caused serious injury, according to the PSNI.
Police discovered the device following searches in the Friary Road area of Armagh city on Christmas Eve morning. Police had received a warning on December 13th that a bomb was left at the Pearse Óg GAA club. Searches were made but nothing was found.
But after further searches the device was discovered near the club.
Air and sea search for man
An air and sea search continued yesterday off Downpatrick Head, Co Mayo, for a man in his 30s who has been missing since Christmas Eve.
He was last seen in Bangor Erris on Wednesday and his car was later located near Downpatrick Head, some 20 miles away.
An Irish Coast Guard helicopter based in Sligo assisted rescue units from Ballyglass and Killala.
