ISE campus opens in Belfast

Lord John Alderdice has officially opened the Belfast campus of the Irish School of Ecumenics (ISE), Trinity College Dublin. He said it was deeply encouraging to him, "committed as I am to peace and the resolution of communal conflict here and elsewhere, that the work of ISE is prospering.

"It is building here in Belfast quite literally on foundations of peace-making and reconciling community life that have been lived out on this very site during some of our most difficult and violent years in north Belfast."

Other speakers last night included the provost of Trinity Dr John Hegarty; the Rev Dr Johnston McMaster, programme co-ordinator of Education for Reconciliation, and Dr Geraldine Smyth, former ISE director.
