No wedding invite for Duchess of York
LONDON – The Duchess of York will not be among the 2,000 invited guests at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, her spokesman has confirmed.
Around 1,900 people will attend the wedding at Westminster Abbey on April 29th, with more than half the guests drawn from the couple’s family and friends.
A spokesman for the Duchess of York confirmed she had not been invited to the wedding. He said: “She won’t be attending and she was never expecting to attend. She’s going to be overseas at the time.” – (PA)
Freed German journalists arrive home
BERLIN – Two German journalists arrived home yesterday after being freed from four months of detention in Iran for meeting the son of a woman sentenced to death by stoning.
Foreign minister Guido Westerwelle flew to Tehran on Saturday to pick up the reporters and meet Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and foreign minister Ali Akbar Salehi.
Marcus Hellwig and Jens Koch arrived in Berlin on a plane with Mr Westerwelle early yesterday. – (Reuters)
