Reporters' cars outside Giggs home damaged
LONDON – Cars belonging to reporters parked outside the home of Manchester United star Ryan Giggs have been attacked by a group of men, British police have said.
Greater Manchester police said they were called to the player’s address in Worsley, Salford, near Manchester, following reports of damage to a number of vehicles.
“Officers attended and discovered at least six cars had been vandalised after a group of offenders arrived in a Ford Transit van and attacked the vehicles,” police said in a statement.
Media sources said tyres were slashed and cars were pelted with flour and eggs.
A British politician defied a court order on Monday by identifying Giggs as the soccer player fighting a legal battle to prevent newspapers from publishing allegations of an affair. – (Reuters)
Danish elections effectively delayed
COPENHAGEN – Denmark’s parliamentary deputies have effectively delayed an election until autumn by agreeing to extend parliament’s current session into late June to allow time for new laws.
Prime minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen must hold elections by mid-November and can call for an early ballot any time if he gives three weeks notice.
