Man arrested over Moffet murder
A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Bobby Moffett on the Shankill Road last Friday week.
The PSNI believes that UVF members on the Shankill killed Mr Moffett (43) over a personal dispute. More than 2,000 people turned out on the Shankill on Friday for his funeral despite warnings by some UVF members for people to stay away.
Four other people arrested in connection with the killing have been released.
Inquiry under way following death of man in Garda station
The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission has begun an investigation into the death of a man in Dundalk Garda station on Sunday.
The man, who is from eastern Europe, had been taken into custody in an intoxicated condition at about 7pm when gardaí observed him in the vicinity of the Marshes shopping centre.
He became unwell while in the station and the emergency services were called. He was taken to Louth County Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis conducted a postmortem yesterday.
The man will not be named until his relatives have been informed.
Woman shot during attempted robbery
A woman in her 40s was being treated in hospital last night after she was shot in the stomach during an attempted robbery at a gaming arcade in Newry, Co Down.
The woman was shot by a man who entered the arcade at about 11.35 pm on Sunday. He demanded money before shooting her, but fled empty-handed.
The woman was said to be in a serious condition in hospital but her injuries were not life-threatening. A man was arrested.
Concern for missing baby
Police in Northern Ireland last night expressed concern for the welfare of a missing 17-month-old baby girl.
The baby, named Sophie, is the subject of a care order and was not returned to her carers after a visit from her mother in Banbridge yesterday. The PSNI contact number is 0845 600 8000.
Saville report for Tuesday release
Arrangements are in place for an advance sight for families of the Saville inquiry report into Bloody Sunday, Northern Secretary Owen Paterson has said. The report will be released at 3.30pm next Tuesday, when British prime minister David Cameron makes a statement on it in the Commons.
