Taxi driver who last saw missing woman asked to contact Garda
Gardaí have again appealed for contact from a taxi driver who was the last known person to see Blathnaid Timothy (33) before she disappeared, writes Conor Lally.
Ms Timothy, a successful executive who had worked for Coca-Cola and KPMG, last used her ATM card at the National Irish Bank on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay on Dublin’s south quays at 8pm yesterday week, December 14th. The CCTV camera then captured her getting into a taxi across the street.
From Glenamaddy, Co Galway, she had been living in Dublin, sharing a flat at Smith Hall on Camden Street.

Funeral of Cork sled victim today
Sports team-mates of Aoife Downey (15), who died in a sledding incident in Cork at the weekend, formed a guard of honour at her removal last night, writes Louise Roseingrave.
Hundreds of friends, relatives, neighbours and friends called to the Church of the Incarnation in Frankfield for the removal.
At Christ the King Secondary School, Aoife’s classmates remembered her at a special ceremony. The school closes today as a mark of respect.
Requiem Mass takes place today at 11am, with burial afterwards at St John’s Cemetery in Ballinrea.
McCormack not to stand for Fine Gael
Fine Gael parliamentary party chairman Pádraic McCormack has announced he will not be standing in the forthcoming general election.
Mr McCormack failed to secure a nomination at the selection convention for the Galway West constituency on December 5th, where he was defeated by Senator Fidelma Healy Eames and Cllr Brian Walsh. In a statement yesterday, the sitting TD said: “After careful consideration, I have decided not to allow my name to be added.”
Fianna Fáil has opted to run just one candidate in the North Tipperary-South Offaly constituency.
