Court backs staffing review in Sligo dispute
There should be an urgent review of nurse staffing at Sligo General Hospital and no further temporary staff nurses should be let go until the review is complete, the Labour Court has said.
The court also said the planned closure of a medical ward at the 318-bed hospital should proceed and staff should be reassigned to the areas of greatest pressure.
It said the offer by the Health Service Executive of alternative employment in primary, community and continuing care services of the 19 temporary staff nurses already let go should be accepted by nursing unions.

Gardaí and PSNI in hunt for thieves
Gardaí and the PSNI have combined in a hunt for thieves who stole a jeep, two trailers, a fertiliser spreader, a new quad and a sheep dog in Ballyshannon, Co Donegal, in the early hours of Sunday.
The owner of the lot, lorry-driver and part-time farmer John Doogan, left them overnight in the town when he accepted a lift home from a friend after an evening socialising.
The jeep was recovered yesterday near Muff. A trailer and the fertiliser spreader were found abandoned in a laneway 200 metres across the Border near Derry. The dog, Spot, remains missing.
