French court closes teacher rating website
A French court has ruled that a popular website can no longer let pupils name and shame their own teachers.
French entrepreneurs created note2be.com in January, which encouraged students to grade teachers and discuss their ability.
Unions, backed by the education ministry, immediately took the site to court, saying the personal comments represented a breach of privacy and an "incitement to public disorder". - (Reuters)
Khan inquest statement
Princess Diana's heart surgeon lover, has told the inquest into her death he feared that marriage to one of the world's most famous women "would be hell because of who she was".
Hasnat Khan, in a highly personal statement to the inquest into the deaths of Diana and Dodi Fayed in a Paris car crash in August 1997 said: "I knew I would not be able to lead a normal life."
Dr Khan said Diana ended their two-year relationship, during which they were hounded by the media and he was sent hate mail. - ( Reuters)
Death of tenor Di Stefano
Italian tenor Giuseppe Di Stefano, to whom Luciano Pavarotti owed his launch to stardom, has died in Milan. He was 86. Di Stefano died yesterday after a long coma caused by an attack during a robbery at his Kenyan holiday home in late 2004. Pavarotti had his big break when Di Stefano dropped out of a performance of La Boheme at London's Covent Garden in 1963. - ( Reuters)
Nurse guilty of 4 murders
A 32-year-old male nurse has been found guilty of murdering four elderly patients with lethal doses of the diabetes drug insulin. Colin Norris administered the drugs to four women during his time at two hospitals in Leeds, Newcastle Crown Court heard. He was also found guilty of the attempted murder of another patient. Police said Norris had picked on "frail, elderly women, generally confused and helpless". - ( Reuters)
