Gun cartridge found on Ryanair flight
Ryanair was forced to evacuate a flight in Dublin Airport yesterday after a gun cartridge was found.
A passenger discovered the cartridge on the floor of the aircraft minutes before it was due to take off.
"Ryanair immediately reported this find to the airport police and gardaí who conducted a search of the aircraft and examined all passengers' hand luggage," a spokesman for the airline said.
Nothing was found and the flight was cleared to depart to Denmark.
Man stabbed in Carlow town
Gardaí in Carlow town are investigating an attack early yesterday morning in which a man was stabbed. The man, in his 30s, was assaulted on Dargan Lawns, Burrin Road, Carlow, shortly after 6am.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The male attacker is believed to have fled the scene with his shirt badly torn.

Bail for boy (15) on murder charge
A 15-year-old boy accused of a murder linked to a feud between two families from the Travelling community, was freed on bail in the High Court in Belfast yesterday.
The boy, who cannot be named because of his age, is one of three people accused of murdering John Mongan (30) in Belfast last February. Lord Justice Girvan said he was granting bail because of a conflict of identification evidence given by Mr Mongan's wife.
