Care worker awarded €3,500
A care worker who claimed she was sexually harassed by an elderly resident in a centre for visually impaired men, has been awarded €3,500 compensation for constructive dismissal.
An Employment Appeals Tribunal was told Bernadette Kelly, Owensilla, Sillogue Avenue, Ballymun Dublin began working at the Home for the Adult Blind, Clonturk House, Ormond Road in 2003.
The centre was run by a religious order and one of the residents "gave a lot of problems".
In his late 60s, the man started to try to kiss Ms Kelly on the cheek. "Then he would be 'leaning in on' her," according to a tribunal determination issued yesterday.
