Charge in Dublin fatal stabbing case
A Dublin man appeared in court yesterday morning in connection with the death of Mark Spellman (26), from Dalkey, who died from fatal stab wounds in the early hours of Saturday morning on Londonbridge Road, Sandymount.
Dane Pearse (20), from Irishtown, Dublin 4, was charged with serious assault and possession of a weapon at Dublin District Court yesterday morning
Mr Pearse was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Clover Hill District Court on August 8th. He made no application for bail.
Suspects held in Tallaght raid released
Nine people who were arrested in Tallaght in connection with an alleged extortion racket on Friday evening were released without charge on Sunday night.
A file is being prepared for the DPP.
The nine - one woman and eight men - were arrested when gardaí raided a house in Cushlawn Drive, Tallaght, and found a man in the bathroom who had been stripped naked, bound and beaten.
The raid was carried out by members of the special detective unit, backed by the emergency response unit.
The victim of the attack received medical treatment. He was not willing to make a statement to gardaí.
Remand over fatal gun attack
A Dublin man appeared in Dublin District Court yesterday morning charged in connection with the death of Sumbo Owoiya in Dunboyne, Co Meath, last Friday.
Joseph O'Sullivan (24), from Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, was charged with unlawful possession of firearms.
Mr O'Sullivan was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Clover Hill District Court on August 10th.
