Smith meets youths on alcohol abuse
A group of teenagers talked about why young people abused alcohol when they met Minister of State for Children Brendan Smith at a forum in Dublin yesterday.
The consultation was one of several being held around the country following the announcement by former minister of state for children Brian Lenihan that he was going to consult teenagers on alcohol misuse.
Up to 300 teenagers aged between 14 and 18 years are involved in the consultations.
Armband campaign gets under way
The first batch of reflective armbands designed to make pedestrians more visible to Luas drivers was distributed yesterday at the launch of the Luas Pedestrian Safety Campaign.
Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey gave armbands to students from Westland Row CBS gathered at the St Stephen's Green Luas stop.

HSE warns of BCG vaccine shortage
There may a shortage of the BCG vaccine for newborn babies across the country in coming weeks, the HSE confirmed yesterday.
It said this was due to regulatory difficulties being experienced by the Danish manufacturer of vaccine, which is given to protect against TB.
