A court yesterday heard details of an alleged sex attack on a woman in her home in the Rosemount area of Derry city.
A 26-year-old local man appeared before the city's Magistrates' Court charged with indecently assaulting the woman and with breaking into her home on Monday last.
James McIntyre, unemployed, of no fixed abode, was arrested on Monday night and charged with the offences in Strand Road PSNI station.
Resident magistrate Barney McElholm was told the defendant, who was described in court as an alcoholic and who has no previous criminal convictions, denied both charges.
A detective told the court the defendant allegedly broke into the woman's home and then went into her bedroom where the alleged assault took place.
Mr McIntyre was remanded in custody until tomorrow.
